A year into Draw Steel's life, the third-party scene is no longer a trickle — it's a current. The community supplement tracker Stawl now indexes 181 third-party products, and MCDM's royalty-free Creator License keeps the barrier to entry at zero. Here's what caught our eye this month.

Ratcatcher Magazine (Issues 01–03) — Tidal Wave Games

The closest thing the Draw Steel scene has to a proper zine. Each issue packs new ancestries, monsters, traps, battlemaps, and table advice into a tight package. Issue 03 just funded on BackerKit, and the earlier issues are already on DriveThruRPG. If you only follow one ongoing series, make it this one.

Hearth & Steel — ArcanePress

Stronghold and base-building rules, done right. A clean point-buy system splits benefits between Infrastructure (permanent) and Preparation (temporary boosts), giving your party a reason to invest in a home base without turning the game into a spreadsheet. Available on itch.io.

The Knight — Jacons

A full new class, still in active development. Early builds are already playable and the design sits comfortably alongside the official roster. Worth tracking if your table wants another martial option. Grab it on itch.io.

Practical Mechanicals — MrMattDollar

Part of a five-product crafting bundle covering alchemy, woodwork, gemcutting, fletching, and mechanical devices. Over 20 new Treasures, vehicle rules, and crafting options scaled across all four echelons. The full bundle runs $20 on itch.io — solid value if your group likes making things.

Time Traveller Ancestry — Valardia

Born out of the "Jams of the Timescape #3" jam celebrating Draw Steel's first anniversary, this ancestry lets you play someone from the future stuck in the past — part space-fantasy, part temporal puzzle. It leans hard into Timescape campaigns and plays with foresight and hindsight as mechanical hooks. A sharp concept for tables that want something weirder than the standard ancestry list. Find it on itch.io.

Adventures in Kingsmire — Triglav Games

Eight 1st-echelon quests in a single collection. Triglav also publishes the Boggits of Kingsmire frog-folk ancestry, so the setting is developing its own internal ecosystem. Good entry point for directors who want a ready-made locale.

31 Flavors of Steel to Draw — Jonas Tintenseher

A Promptober 2025 compilation: 31 daily homebrews covering ancestries, complications, domains, monsters, treasures, and terrain. Uneven by nature, but the hit rate is high and the breadth makes it a useful idea mine. On itch.io.

The Big Picture

MCDM's own Crack the Sun expansion — $2.6 million raised, seven products including the Beastheart class and eight new ancestries — has digital drops rolling through 2026 with physical books in 2027. That official pipeline, combined with a creator license that asks for nothing in return, means the third-party scene has runway. Expect Stawl to clear 250 before the year is out.

We'll keep watching. If you're publishing Draw Steel content and want it on our radar, get in touch.
